Today’s attempt at toppling Iran’s government has echoes of the 1953 overthrow of Mohammad Mosaddegh which was orchestrated by MI6 and the CIA at the instigation of Winston Churchill.

Just as the British did back then, Donald Trump wants to steal Iranian oil and control that country in his twentieth century reboot of western imperialism. The CIA did their bit in January with Israel’s Mossad, trying to orchestrate regime change which failed. Now, Trump is trying brute military force, even though the weight of evidence tells us that that will inevitably fail. In an identical fashion to 1953 and all the coups the US and UK have sponsored since that time, the intelligence agencies also played their part through the massive infiltration of the western mainstream media which allows them to pump out relentless propaganda to delegitimise Iran’s government and seek to justify its ouster.

Yet, in an age of alternative media, ordinary people are rejecting Trump’s unjustified war of aggression and turning to alternative media sources for balanced and accurate reporting and insight.
