On December 12, the United Nations General Assembly adopted Resolution “Protection of civilians and upholding legal and humanitarian obligations,” calling for a cease-fire in Gaza, where Israel’s operation against Hamas that has left than 10,000 dead. Only eight countries, apart from Israel and the United States, voted against the resolution: Austria, Czechia, Guatemala, Liberia, Micronesia, Nauru, Papua New Guinea, Paraguay. Remarkably, the vote has exposed a divide among European countries over the crisis in Gaza.
